Bright Path Center, Bucks County’s New Behavioral Health Crisis Center, Now Open

Now open in Doylestown, Bright Path Center provides 24/7 support for children, teens, and adults experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. Individuals can walk in for help at any time without an appointment. Based on each person’s needs, services may include crisis intervention, stabilization, connection to community resources, short-term crisis residential care, or withdrawal management. The building, located at 520 North West Street, Doylestown, features separate entrances and spaces for children and adults.

“Bright Path Center represents exactly the kind of investment Bucks County residents deserve, one that meets people with compassion in their moment of need,” said Diane M. Ellis-Marseglia, chair of the Bucks County Commissioners. “Behavioral health crises don’t wait for convenient hours or the right paperwork, and now our neighbors have a place to turn that understands that urgency.” Learn more!

PA Becomes the 40th Member of the Counseling Compact!

“Governor Josh Shapiro signed legislation on July 12, 2026, enacting the Counseling Compact in Pennsylvania, making the Commonwealth the 40th state to join the interstate compact for licensed professional counselors. The law, effective in 60 days, will allow Pennsylvania-licensed counselors to gain practice privileges in other member states, and counselors licensed elsewhere to practice in Pennsylvania, once the Commonwealth completes implementation and becomes active through CompactConnect, the Compact’s data system.”

More qualified providers, especially via telehealth, will help address long wait lists and increase access to preventative care before a mental health crisis occurs. Learn more!

This legislation passed with strong bipartisan support, (45–5 in the Senate and 188–14 in the House), with the Collaborative Advocacy Network (CAN) advocating for its passage through our Day of Advocacy in June. Thank you to all who lifted up their voices for more behavioral health resources and a stronger mental health system!

National Alliance to End Homelessness | Transitional Housing: What Is It?

In light of the current environment for funding and federal priorities, Continuums of Care (CoCs) and homeless services providers are reconsidering transitional housing (TH) as an intervention for people experiencing homelessness. This overview will help communities understand how to apply the lessons learned from TH models of the past to create more effective interventions today, as part of an overall system approach to solving homelessness.

…”It is also important to ground this in regulatory reality: people in TH are still considered homeless. Entry into TH is not an endpoint; it is a temporary point along the pathway, and programs must be designed with that urgency and purpose in mind.

This creates a clear charge: TH should be low-barrier, person-centered, and explicitly housing-focused. Services should be available and responsive, but not a condition for accessing the program or being exited from it. Strong transition planning must begin at entry, reinforcing that TH is not someone’s permanent housing. When done well, TH functions as a short-term, purposeful intervention that stabilizes people and accelerates exits to permanent housing, aligned with broader system goals and the intent of the CoC program statute.” Download the resource.
