Mission: Our mission is to promote and facilitate the resettlement of refugees and other displaced persons in Canandaigua by providing a support network to help them start a new life.
Founded: April 2022
How We Work: Called to Care, Canandaigua accepts monetary donations to support the resettlement of refugees and other displaced persons in Canandaigua until the time that they are able to be independent, a minimum of 3 months but possibly as long as 6 months. Monies received are not given directly to the new arrivals but are used by Called to Care, Canandaigua to provide housing, transportation, clothing, food, medical care, household items not provided through material donations, and any costs related to registering for work permits, social security, and/or other necessary documents. Called to Care, Canandaigua acts as a collective support circle, in place of an individual sponsor, to provide the cultural orientation and practical connections to enable displaced persons to become established and independent in our community. All those involved with Called to Care, Canandaigua serve as volunteers.
