Nature and Spirit: Landscapes with Interfaith Philadelphia

Take a moment to slow down, reflect, and experience art in a new way! Join Interfaith Philadelphia for a guided mini-retreat at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and explore how art can deepen reflection, inspire conversation, and invite spiritual contemplation.

Facilitators: Rev. John B. Hougen, PhD, Art of Interfaith Understanding Coordinator and Volunteer Docent at the PMA.

  • Explore A Nation of Artists, the PMA’s America 250 exhibition
  • Focus on landscape paintings that express a variety of religious and spiritual commitments, shaped our national identity, and fueled our nation’s westward expansion
  • Participate in a guided meditation led by Rev. John Hougen using two selected works of art
  • Spend time exploring the exhibition independently or with a partner through prayerful observation
  • Conclude with a group reflection, sharing insights inspired by the artwork
